The Gentlemen

Conclusion:

The Gentlemen is a fun and action packed movie. Both Smith and Pearson display their own unique styles. Pearson shows himself to be the boss and dresses accordingly. Smith elevates classic sporty pieces and shows their utility throughout the film. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and was continuously impressed with the costume design of Smith and Pearson. On multiple occasions I was surprised by the small detailing of their outfits that brought in different patterns, colors and textures. If you can I would strongly recommend look closely at high resolution pictures of these looks. Thank you for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed it.

My Review-

This outfit truly embraces the English sports suits of the early to mid 1900s. The different colors compliment the look without overpowering it. The layering is one of function and comfort. The suit pattern and key pieces along with the knit dress down the outfit making it perfect for a day of shooting.

My Review-

One of the dressiest outfits you will see from Pearson throughout the movie. This look is brings together multiple patterns and colors. The patterns are complimented by being all different sizes. The colors are used throughout the look to compliment one another and be cohesive. The overall look has dimension and a great take on classic tailoring.

My Review-

Here Pearson is showing his American roots with a preppy look with his own twist. The blue blazer and knit tie all hark back to US college campuses of the mid 1900s. Adding his own touch with the contrast collar shirt and peak lapels on the blazer he melds his style with American preppy style seamlessly. Overall the look is not out of place for Pearson and shows a continued sartorial flare.

My Review-

Going back to traditional English styling Pearson combines his floral time with a check sport coat and lapel vest. The clothes all seamlessly go together with a great look that shows Pearson's ability to dress well and fit the part of an upper class Englishman.

My Review-

Going with his signature peak lapel here Pearson means business. It is interesting that he has patch pockets on his suit which is usually for more casual looks. But he does mean business with his contrast collar shirt and stripe tie. The overall look pulls off the seriousness of the scene and continues to highlight Pearson's sense of style.

My Review-

Smith shows his own sense of style form his very first scene. The vest under the jacket provides warmth in chilly England while also not restricting his movements when it is needed. Overall his outfits will fit this mold and be very well put together.

My Review-

Continuing his more casual style Smith adds his own refinements. The quilted jacket and vest are both utilitarian but in this look put together. The tie and collared shirt elevate his look but the jeans keep it more casual. Overall Smith's style is established as sensible, refined, and business casual.

My Review-

This is one of my favorite looks in the whole movie. The mixture of the macintosh jacket, notch lapel vest, and jeans is a great modern look with classic pieces. Smith's style shines here as his ability to look good and be dangerous are on display.

My Review-

The worst part about this outfit is that it is only seen for such a short period of time. A slight departure from previous looks it seems that Smith is wearing the same fabric in both his pants and vest. It has classic English styling with a green corduroy jacket and combines perfectly with the blue of his shirt and brown of the vest and pants.

My Review-

The waxed jacket is a great addition to his looks as a classic piece of English menswear. Smith's style comes through again but with check trousers instead of jeans. Again it is shown he is ready for anything and that his clothes work with him and not against him. Overall a great look especially for the colder months.

My Review-

The green corduroy jacket makes another appearance this time over a puffer vest, button down shirt, and tie. The outfit looks nice and warm for cooking steak and staving off other mobsters who are after you. The look is well put together with great color combinations and texture layering, especially from the vest and jacket.

My Review-

From the first scene to this one this look bridges the gap between business casual and business. Clearly you can see Pearson is ready for business. But, the look takes on the characters own persona with classic earth tones and the distinct peak lapel. Overall this outfit is refined, but not over-stated, with classic tailoring and everyday feel while being worn.
